CharterWave New Media Series, December 2009, Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting

Kim Kavin, editor of CharterWave.com, will lead this three-day look at online business strategies and techniques. Each seminar will last about one hour. Attendance is free, refreshments will be provided, and all are welcome. Discussions will be geared toward helping charter brokers, captains, and managers make the most of online marketing tools. Q-and-A will be encouraged.

Day One: Social Media.

This seminar will offer a practical introduction to Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Learn how to use these free, wide-reaching social media platforms to drive traffic to your website, perform market research, and promote your company or yacht effectively. Nuts-and-bolts demonstrations will include how to log on and get started. Details will be provided about current demographic trends. (Hint: Your potential clients are, indeed, here.)

Day Two: Blogging.

This seminar will offer how-to information for creating a blog, including a time required-vs.-benefits analysis. Nuts-and-bolts demonstrations will include how to start a blog on your existing website or elsewhere, how to incorporate video and audio into your blog, how to create effective blog content, and how to hire reputable ghostwriters. This seminar will also build on Day One’s seminar with a discussion of how to use Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook to get a better return on time investment for every blog post that you create.

Day Three: e-Publishing.

This seminar will discuss the use of e-newsletters,  e-magazines, and e-brochures. It will include an introduction to the custom-publishing service CharterWave Direct, which allows reputable charter brokers and yachts to repurpose the thousands of editorial articles, photographs, and videos from CharterWave.com into branded e-marketing tools that feature only your company’s logo and contact information. This seminar also will build on information presented during Days One and  Two, with ideas for repurposing social media and blog content into e-publications.
